To me, something can not be called art unless it really gives you something to think about.  It has to be more than a painting, a sculpture, or a photograph; it has to be an experience.  Nathan Lavertue’s art goes to that level and beyond.  It’s impossible to just glance at a piece of his work and forget it.  You find yourself mentally gripped by each image and responding to how it affects you.  Pieces such as “Catharsis,” with a skull as the central figure, play on your interpretations by using conflicting titles and images, which makes his work even more intriguing.

Lavertue lives and works in Brooklyn, and aside from his personal art projects, he has also worked with clients such as NBC, Universal Music Group, and Disney.  His art can be viewed and purchased through his website.
